Entry Level and Mid-Level Civil Engineers

Wave Civil is currently hiring multiple entry level (0-2 years) and mid-level (2-6 years) civil engineers to join our local DC metro office. As a Civil Engineer at Wave Civil, you will be involved in developing site development plans, water and sewer infrastructure design plans, providing program management support, performing site investigations, field inspections, permit expediting and construction phase support services for various public and private sector clients in the DC metropolitan area.

Basic Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-design site investigations and developing due diligence and concept design reports.

  • Prepare site layout plans, grading and drainage plans, water and sewer layout plans, stormwater management plans, hydraulic and hydrologic computations, traffic control plans, erosion and sediment control plans and associated engineering design plans and construction documents.

  • Ability to utilize AutoCAD & Civil3D and related design software for the preparation of various design and construction plans.

  • Prepare various permit applications and submission package to various local and state jurisdictions.

  • Provide support in preparing various aspects of construction documents & construction bid packages, prepare project specifications, cost estimates, project schedule and quantity take-offs under the guidance of a senior engineer or a project manager.

  • Coordinate the project development with other sub-consultants, client and the review agencies.

  • Provide support in the field during construction, pre and post construction site visits and inspections and engineering services during construction.

  • Assist in the development of technical reports.

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • No specific experience is required for an entry level engineer but the ability to use AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D along with the ability to perform basic hydraulic and hydrologic calculations is preferred.

  • For a mid-level engineer, more than 2 years and upto 6 years of experience as a designer/engineer supporting site development projects, water and sewer infrastructure projects and roadway projects is preferred.

  • Project and program management support experience as well as specific field investigations and conditions assessment experience in the water and sewer industry is also desirable.

  • Excellent technical writing skills & ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders is strongly preferred.

  • Strong desire to move into a project management role in the future.

  • Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively via emails and phone calls.

  • Ability to drive and work from the office or the client location.

  • The ability to learn quickly, along with effective communication skills, and a solid work ethic.

Preferred Education and Certification

  • EIT or the ability to obtain in 6-9 months of hire.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related programs from an ABET accredited University/College.

  • A PE certification is desirable for mid-level engineer but not required.
